Advice in cats.org.uk/straycat but generally cats wander regularly and if this cat visits regularly then I guess your main concern is that cat is skinny and eats your food and perhaps is quite vocal? If there is cause for concern then knocking on doors will be best. There isn’t a cat reported missing on AnimalSearchUK. The cat could be young, and therefore will be skinnier than an older cat tends to be. Cats like more than one place to eat, sometimes. You would like the cat to trust you in case he/she is lost, but generally people should NOT feed other people’s cats unless they seem to need help. See advice in cats.org.uk re paper collar, scanning for microchip etc. If cat is uneutered then the cat could roam and get lost looking for, or following, potential mate, unfortunately, so that is a shame and not good, and will be a big risk to cat’s health and safety ?? so please advise owner if you find her/him ??

Thanks for the advice, I think our neighbour has already tried door knocking so if an owner doesn’t come up, we’ll take the cat to the vet to check for a microchip.

Hello Jonny. Thank you for reporting the cat. Im a little concerned that youve taken the cat from tbe street at first sight, though now tgat you have, do you have a safe cat carrier to get it to a vet to be scanned for a microchip? I coukd potentialky come and scan but im afraid cant get tgere until next week, which in my opinion is far to long to keep the cat from going back to its owner if it has one. Do let us know. Thanks ever so much

Thanks for the offer of microchip scanning - we fortunately live round the corner from a vet, so if we can’t find an owner and the cat is still hanging around next weekend we’ll take it to get checked out.

I’ve had a look and the cat doesn’t seem to have a piece of ear missing. I will try today to confirm the sex of the cat too. Does it have any other notable features and is he microchipped?

Hi Rusty, yes the cat was microchipped and we have safely returned it to its owner. Case solved! Thank you all for your concern

We took the cat to the vet and it was microchipped and registered to the pub down the road. We then returned it to the owner.
