Location: Russell Court, Cambridge CB2 1HW, UK
Health: Healthy
Age:
Sex: Female
Collar: No
Microchipped: Not sure
Markings: None
Circumstances: This cat appeared while I was outside cutting back bushes. I thought for some weeks that she must live locally. She vanished for some weeks. However during September she simply returned and was desperate for food crying outside the door during the day and night. I thought maybe her owner was on holiday/in hospital etc and this would be a temporary issue but then she started camping on my window ledges all night. She is very thin and I'm worried she may have worms. She is also friendly as I give her food but very nervous of other cats and noise eg lorries. She seems a bit disorientated as if she is in an unfamiliar area.

Re the Found Tabby ref PR89811: a Pets Reunited supporter has now given me details of the possible owner . The cats name may be 'Molly'. I am now trying to make contact with the owner so that she can reclaim her pet. Many thanks to the kind volunteer who spotted this.

Two people have contacted me about this cat with details of her name and history. We are still waiting to hear from the last person who was looking after her so that we can make a final decision about Molly's future. Thank you all those who were responsible enough to contact.

After filing this report I took the cat to a local vet to find out if she was chipped. She wasn't so there was no clue to her owner. However after the Pets Reunited site displayed her photo, two people contacted me: one was someone who recognized the cat from the photo and who identified her as one named Molly. She also had a vague idea of the location of Molly's original owners. I decided therefore to distribute leaflets to the cluster of houses she identified. Soon I was phoned by Molly's original owner: it was clear from his manner that he and his family had cared for the cat very well for many years but at one stage she had had kittens which she had rejected. This had perhaps caused Molly some emotional upheaval because after this she began running away and living with other people. One neighbour had fed her for years. There was another report of her living later on with an elderly man. But Molly at times got into fights with other local cats and sometimes would become disorientated and run away. Molly's owners had finally given her to a friend who lived locally and who had also cared for her well, keeping her indoors and buying her lots of toys. However he had tried to turn her into a house-cat while really Molly liked her freedom and roaming around outside. In the hot weather she took advantage of open windows and soon started left his home and started roving around. Eventually she arrived lost and disorientated at my house where I was gardening. Mollys original owner could not take her back as he and his family now had dogs. He said that he would talk to her last owner and find out if he wanted her back. He would give him my number. After some days of silence I phoned her original keeper to ask if his friend did indeed want Molly back? He said that he would see him that evening and ask him again but that "If you don't hear anything after a few days, you can keep her." Accordingly as more days have gone by with no contact, and as the cat seems settled with me, I have decided to adopt her.
