Trying to sleep - work next day! - when we heard the catflap, and knew it wasn't Charlie's brother as he was on the bed. We went quietly downstairs - and there he was. His coat was dry and it had rained so he'd been locked in somewhere. He can't have been far away. We had tried all the neighbours who would answer, but many houses here are holiday homes, and some people didn't answer even though we knocked again and leafletted. I can't think how someone opened a shed door or kitchen door at one in the morning but someone must have done. He was frightened and disorientated and hungry. We just can't believe he's home!
