I did pet the cat however since it scratched me I wasn’t able to get it any help.

I have seen this cat today at 12.15pm at the Tesco Extra car park. It ran across to the Tesco fuel station and hid in bushes where I couldn’t locate it .
PenB
PenB
I have returned this evening and put down food and water at the car park and spoke to customer services in the store to make them aware of the cat. It may be that the cat is from out of the area and has ended up at the store if it has got inside one of the delivery vans and then escaped once the van has been opened

Thank you for giving the cat food and water, what did Tesco customer service say?
PenB
PenB
The lady in customer services said they weren’t aware of the cat. A young man who worked at the fuel station said he’d seen the cat around the area recently. I explained it was lost. I am going to contact some local cat rescue charities today to see if anyone can offer any help rescuing it

I am also trying to arrange some help, is there any chance we can meet together and help this cat?
PenB
PenB
Yes I can meet you to see what we can do to help the cat. I live between Wolverhampton and Telford so it takes me about 45 minutes to get to Walsall. I can meet this afternoon if you are free? It would be around 3pm? If not I can meet you tomorrow afternoon?

Hi pen B I went during the day but unfortunately could not see the cat, I am assuming that the cat was scared in the day as there is a lot of traffic at that time. He usually only comes out during the night I think as it’s less busy.

Have u found anyone who can help the cat?
0121Sayma
0121Sayma
I tried to find him during the day so I can take him to a vet and see if he is microchipped and to contact the owners but unfortunately I couldn’t find the cat during the day and I think it’s because tescos is busy during the day and the cat gets scared and hides

Hi 0121Sayma I took food and water on Thursday and Friday late evening. I also went on Saturday afternoon. I haven’t seen the cat since it ran into the bushes by the fuel station on Thursday afternoon. I have been back tonight just before dusk and put fresh food and water but still no sightings.

I even booked the cat an appointment to take him to the vets to check if he’s microchipped but I couldn’t find the cat. I’m wondering if someone taken him? Or if he’s just hiding again? I rang RSPCA & they said that we should take the cat to a vet to check for microchip so they can contact the owners if found but if not found we will have to keep him or let him out where we found him. I cannot find any spaces in shelters which I’ve contacted so far :( I have spoken to petrol station staff and Bev at customer service who said they’d keep an eye out and call me if they see the cat again but still haven’t heard back…

I contacted a charity called Purrs Rescue on Saturday morning by email but they haven’t replied. I am going to contact Midlands Animal Rescue Team tomorrow to see if they can help. I’m very worried that there have been no sightings for 5 days. I think with the heatwave and the fact the cat seems to be unwell it will be very weak. I am going to return on Thursday and speak to the staff at the fuel station to see if there have been any other sighting since last week

I am really concerned too, I just cannot find the cat anywhere I checked all the bushes

When did you last see the cat? Do you think it would let someone pick it up and take it? There was a guy called Arif Hoque who posted about the cat on Facebook lost and stolen pets Walsall on Monday 23rd June but I’m not sure if he is still actively looking for the cat. I have a cat carrier in my car so will attempt to catch it if I see it again

The only other thing we can do is print off the poster download above and put on the perimeter fence where I have left the food. That way if someone does see it they might let us know

0121Sayma
Yeh that was my brother, we are both actively looking for the cat, the last time I saw the cat was in the night on Thursday and I gave him some food and saw the bowl of water that you’d left out. I left my car doors open and got a towel out but he seemed too scared. But he did seem to slowly trust me and shows me where he sleeps overnight… he sleeps behind the fence where Tesco leaves the bins.

Ok let’s put up posters! Hopefully Tesco don’t remove the poster!

I think it’s all we can do now. I can come back down on Thursday evening so I will bring more food and water.

Hi I’ve just returned from Tesco. I’ve put up 4 posters along the fence. There is no sign of him again. I’ve checked under the bin store too but can’t see him. I’ve put food and water down in the same place and also behind the bushes at the fuel station. I’ve given the staff at the fuel station my number.
PenB
PenB
I’m going to call Walsall council tomorrow to see if they have removed any deceased cats in the area in the last week
0121Sayma
0121Sayma
Hi thanks for that! I also gave my number and name to customer service but haven’t heard from them. Do you think someone has taken the cat? And did u hear back from the shelters?
PenB
PenB
No I haven’t heard back from the shelter I contacted. The two staff at the fuel station haven’t been there since last Thursday (26 June) so they don’t know if he’s been about this last week. Our only hope now is we get a response to the posters or the fuel station staff call me. I really don’t know what to think to be honest. My biggest concern is he’s either been in an accident running across the busy road or he’s not made it through the heatwave last weekend. I think it’s just a waiting game now to see if we get any response to the posters or sighting at the fuel station
PenB
PenB
I’m not sure he would let someone take him unless they really gained his trust. I keep googling his details and checking the lost and found registers and we are the only people who seem to be looking for him

Hi PenB, I’ve just had a call to say that they’ve seen the cat, he is by the bins and is eating something… is there any chance you can go and get him please?

Hi Sayma, I’m PenB’s daughter, we’ve only just seen your message but we’re on our way now to look for him. We’ve got a cat carrier but if we can’t find him we’re going to have to ask about putting a cat trap down. We’ll let you know!
0121Sayma
0121Sayma
Hi idoru that’s ok please keep me updated! Are you planning on taking him to a vet to see if he’s microchipped? Or will you find a new owner/ keep him/ send to rescue?
idoru43
idoru43
If we can catch him we’ll take him to a vet first because he needs treating and then we’ll look into finding a rescue :)

Hi Sayma, we’ve just seen the cat and we managed to feed him. I tried to grab him with a blanket but he ran away. He ran very quickly and doesn’t seem to be too weak but he does have a problem with his sight. We’ve spoken to the manager Raj in tesco and we’ve been given permission to put a cat trap down by the bins where he’s sleeping. We’re going to order one on amazon tonight and we’ll go tomorrow to put it down. Please let us know if anybody calls again to say they’ve seen him
PenB

Hi Sayma I’ve got some great news. We’ve caught him. We were called at 7am by the police. He was caught in the trap but a member of the public saw someone kicking the trap with the cat inside and phoned the police. The police have taken him to to the RSPCA. My daughter is going to collect the trap so she will ask if she can see him and what will happen next . I’ll keep you updated when I know more
0121Sayma
0121Sayma
Hi PenB I’m glad that he was caught. I’m really sad that there are people doing such cruelty to cats :( I’m glad they rang the police! Have you managed to see the cat and what has RSPCA said, have they checked to see if he is microchipped to find his owners?
PenB
PenB
Hi Sayma He’s been taken to the RSCA animal hospital in Birmingham where he’ll be treated until he’s well enough to be put up for adoption. He’s not microchipped and the vet estimated he’s been a stray for between 6/12 months. My daughter did see him and she said he was letting her fuss him and purring which is amazing considering the ordeal he’s been through. His condition wasn’t too bad considering how he’s been living . His main issue is his eyes are infected
0121Sayma
0121Sayma
Aww bless him. He was purring and rolling around after I fed him last time too. How is he doing now? How did u get to see him at RSPCA hospital? Do you know anyone who will adopt the cat or would you be taking him? I would’ve loved to take him but I already have a cat
PenB
PenB
My daughters went to the animal hospital a few hours after he’d been dropped there. They allowed them in to collect the trap we’d put down and said they could see him briefly. We can’t call to see how he is now because it’s not open to the public. We also have a cat so we can’t take him. My daughter did take some pictures of him and a video at the hospital. She can send them to you on instagram or facebook if you’d like to see them?
