Please try these - There’s a lot here, but please try all these tips. Please read them all – there may be other ones here to some you may have seen - Go out looking and calling for them (gently – don’t shout – they may think you are cross with them otherwise) when it is quiet late evening or night time. Take hot chicken or tuna to try to tempt them out – or rattle their favourite box of treats. They may be frightened, injured or trapped so can't or won't come out of hiding easily so be thorough in your search. Walk towards your home rather than away so they can follow your trail. Take a torch so their eyes can reflect off it. If you find them, let them come to you – even their owner can spook them if they are frightened. Give your postman, bin man, local window cleaner and milkman all the details – a leaflet would be good with a photo and your contact number – they will walk/travel all around the area and may see them. Or even your local bobby if you have one. Cats are often found just a few streets from home. Ask neighbours and the streets around you to see if anyone knows of their whereabouts. Knock on doors and ask them to double check their gardens, sheds, car bonnets, outbuildings and under decking. Check up trees and in any communal green areas. Leaflet through doors and put posters up in your area. Share with as many missing cat pages and local community pages as possible and use the power of social media. Leave anything with a familiar smell outside. They can smell it from up to a mile away and it can lead them home. Unwashed clothing on your washing line is good because you can swap it out every 2-3 days to refresh the scent. If chipped, let the chip company know that puss is missing and to make sure your details are up to date. Please let the chip company know when puss is found. Cats can be handed into vets or the council so contact your local council and vets in and around your area too. Ask if you can put details on school websites asking parents to ask friends and family if they are feeding a kitty that’s not theirs or have seen them. They walk around the area too, on the school run. Check any empty houses, renovations, building works nearby that may have had workmen in, and also anybody who is having home renovations done where puss may have been trapped inside or under floorboards etc. Check all animal rescues and local vets to see if they have been handed in. Check any CCTV that anyone close by may have. Have you had any delivery vans/workmen visiting, where kitty could have got into the vehicle? Please check with those companies.
