Circumstances:	Small tuxedo black and white cat with white paws. It doesn’t want to leave our back garden, and is a bit scared to be approached, so we’ve opened our shed and put a little food down so it can get some shelter if it wants. Has been licking and holding up a front paw which makes me wonder if it is injured and is why it has been miaowing/ yowling

Well done for looking after him/her. If you can book him into a vets, then while he's in the shed, you can get him in a carrier and take to the vet for scanning and a check.
