LOST
Jet
Name: Jet
Breed & Species: Domestic short-haired cat
Colour: Black
SimpleColour:
Went missing: 6 years ago
(01 February 2018 at around 10:42hrs)
Location: St Leonards Way, Cardrona, United Kingdom
Health: Healthy
Age: 15 years old
Sex: Neutered Male
Collar: No
Microchipped: Yes
Markings: Small patch of white on chest, larger patch of white on tummy, one ear has a tear in it at the top
Circumstances: Jet was last seen asleep in the house. He has ongoing access to the outdoors via a cat flap. He does go out at night but is rarely out for long at this time of year. There was no sign of him @ 6:00am on Friday when I got up which is extremely unusual as it was feeding time and food matters to him. I have not seen him since late Thursday night. He has never disappeared from the house like this in the 7 and a half years he’s lived with me. Even last summer when he was much more active due to undiagnosed (at the time) hyperthyroidism and was often out the house for several hours, he always returned and was never absent for more than 5/6 hours. He has been treated for hyperthyroidism by radioiodine injection. Thyroid level have subsequently returned to normal but is still under review. He’s due a three month check in around 2 weeks.

I got a phonecall from a lady who’d seen the posters I’d put up around the village and had a large black cat in her kitchen. Could it be Jet? The cat had been crying at her back door. Her son had assumed it was their cat and let it in only to discover it wasn’t. The cat retreated under their cooker and from there under a kitchen unit where he’d jammed himself into a corner as far away as possible. The kick board under the cupboard was removed allowing me to glimpse the cat. On hearing my voice he began to miaow and I was able to confirm the cat was indeed Jet. It proved challenging to get him out from under the cupboard as he was by then totally freaked. However I was eventually able to get him out and home. He seems unharmed, hungry and very thirsty - headed straight for his water fountain rather than food. I’m extremely grateful that the family who found him took the trouble to phone me, keep him in their house and dismantle their kitchen to allow me to grab him!
