Circumstances:	He had not used the litter tray for days and was asking to be let out very loudly. He usually hides in the shed. I have only had him for 5 days though and I fell asleep and left him for longer than intended outside.

If he is a new cat, he may have tried to make his way home so worth letting the previous owners know.
