https://thepetdetectives.com A lady I met said she used pet detective & they found her cat!! They deduced that the alley cat normally frequented had builders there removing a wall they figured cat saw a newly opened up area & strolled in! But by the end of the day a temporary hoarding had been erected thereby trapping the cat in unfamiliar area unable to retrace her route because the new hoarding had no scent on that cat had used to find her way home before! They went in every garden on the other side of alley & found the cat!! https://www.happytailsdetective.co.uk

I helped a girl find her indoor cat as he was being looked after at a friends house which was over an hours drive from his actual home! He’s an indoor cat so she was frantic he had got out of rooftop window! He got lost at number 85 & eighteen days later was found at number 63!! Covered in fleas ticks & with worms! The only way he was reunited was due to the total poster blitz of the area! The owner would drive up every day looking & putting up posters & flyers through doors! U must knock on every single door along your street & the next street the gardens back on to as he will be hiding scared in someone’s garden. You will find him please leave your clothes with your scent on in your garden it does really work & your urine too spray it from water bottle around your garden!! Get good posters from pets reunited & if you upgrade to VIP £9.99 they print out 50 posters for you! Their posters have a Q CODE on so people can scan details of poster into their phone so if they find your cat they can call you even if it’s middle of night without having to go looking for a poster in the street. Post on pawboost is good site but honestly blitzing the area with sooo many posters as people walk past posters that say are just the odd one here & there but if they are absolutely everywhere then they kind of stick in people brain! https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=g2eCoC63B9I&fbclid=IwAR0QE29uoizKwu61pNGbyL8-eOaZCjIixc4a2NiSZhS0OOLX3qNDZp6SEqM

https://www.catchat.org/index.php/cat-missing-lost-found#lost http://thepetdetectives.com/about_us.php If you have used litter put that around streets leading home or the contents of vacuum bag Also get something you’ve worn like a t shirt with your scent in cut it up into tiny pieces leave trail around streets to home Go out calling him in the early hours like 3am say as when it’s quiet cats come out. Call him then stop & listen as he could be hiding behind bins masking his meow Even put your own urine in water bottle & squirt around streets leading to home put some in garden too cats are brilliant at smelling & the wind will blow smell to where they can pick up the scent Blitz the area with posters especially high footfall areas like supermarkets high streets carparks leaflets through as many doors as possible get friends to help go out in posse’s Most cats are locked in somewhere especially if people are on holiday or building works !! Try going out early morning 3am calling & even look into houses that have builders in as some cats get in through open window then get shut in so call through letter boxes of empty houses Have you registered here https://www.nationalpetregister.org/mp/91022 This was on another cats missing page IMPORTANT- WATCH SONYA FITZPATRICK ON YOUTUBE - HOW TO FIND YOUR LOST CAT Ask/BEG people to check in their sheds, esp the people with gardens near you. Unfortunately MANY people can be lazy and they don’t thoroughly check sheds. They may think cats are like dogs and will just run out. Cats WILL STAY hiding in fear, esp in a shed or garage. So, personally, I would ask if YOU could gently COAX him/her out. Then constantly explain to shed/garage owner that you are convinced he/she is behind stuff that may be stacked up, with gaps that will be behind stuff. Tell them that your cat can SQUEEZE into tiny spaces and will be too nervous to come out for a stranger. Then BEG for permission to search and reassure cat to come to you, which could take 10-15 minutes. Don’t forget that people may imagine you are a ‘bogus caller/thief, so you need to be extremely reassuring as well as emotional. All the time you are talking to shed/garage owner talk in a calming way, so your cat can hear you being reassuring. It’s a difficult ‘act’ being very concerned AND calm at the same time! xxx ps if they refuse to let you retrieve your cat from their shed then instruct them to leave food at the entrance of the door, and leave door open for a couple of hours at least, and take some smelly tinned fish in plastic trays from recycling bag/box to give them. Ask them to leave water at the entrance of the shed/garage also. Your cat will come out to the food then. https://www.catchat.org/index.php/cat-missing-lost-found#found ????10 TIPS TO HELP TO BRING YOUR CAT HOME???? 1.Put familiar smells outside, bedding used litter tray, contents of hoover 2.Call softly late at night or early morning when quiet. IMPORTANT wait for a response, they may be close by, hiding under a hedge or somewhere that is sheltered 3.Check with neighbours, and Postie. 4.Make a poster with their photo, location lost, your contact details, put poster at eye level around your area, and give to neighbours 5.Make smaller posters to put through doors close to where they escaped from, as not everyone is online/on Facebook 6.Contact local vets, and animal rescues/shelters 7.Put on more Facebook sites, and share to all animal sites around you 8.If chipped contact chip company, they may have been advised of a cat that has been found with your details 9.Also if there are any empty houses in the vicinity, check to see if they have a cat flap or an open window. 10. Notify council cleansing department JUST in case. Cats dont wander far normally, when they need to go searching for food, so leave biscuits and water nearby your home. The info below will say about putting things out that has familiar smells. Sprinkling some of your wee around, from a bottle, will also 'scent' your area. Look at satellite view on Google Map of where your cat could walk. See where there is a gap between buildings. Start a trail of wee in a water bottle from where gardens or courtyards border on to alleyways from the side of buildings, and then sprinkle along inside edge of pavement where a cat would spray all the way home. Choose different directions, each time walking home with empty bottle calling louder when you start your return journey and quieter as you near home to make scent and sound the leading influence on your hiding cat xx As you are walking back home try not to sound anxious as you call, and wait for a reply, as he/she wont just run out to meet you if he/she feels afraid. Take a toy on a stick and string to lure him/her out from hedges. Never call as you walk AWAY from home. Join NextDoor.co.uk xx Join all if not back soon - AnimalSearchUK.co.uk PetsLocated.com NationalPetRegister.org (Just look in Gumtree.com MyLostBox.com) Please notify them as soon as you are reunited. When putting posters up - please please - keep track of how many posters you display, and WHERE, and so as soon as you are reunited then every one is removed. General advice in catching a fearful cat - NOT to approach when bending forwards with arms and hands outstretched. NOT staring directly at a fearful cat, showing teeth when smiling and constantly repeating name. Not walking directly towards a cat. Best way - sit/lie down, with scattered worn clothes in front/all around. Food left nearby - preferably in a trap. Talking quietly, no noise nearby, keeping dogs or children or spectators at a real distance to avoid distractions xx Spray your own pee in garden over wall etc just pee in a jug then pour into a squirt top water bottle! Never spray in streets as you walk away from home always return journey spray it along inside of wall where pavement meets not kerb too dangerous Get a t shirt and wear it make sure no deodorant cut it into TINY pieces & leave a trail from streets away to your garden/door Heat his wet food up quite hot in microwave take out with you &!waft it stay strong go out 2am onwards take food & toy you can drag he will be trapped somewhere so call but not frantically he won’t come out even if he can as he won’t recognise your voice he needs to hear you in conversation so go with some and just talk Look in homes where people have gone on holiday call through letter box Cats hide up chimneys in fear it’s a thing really Ask people to check chimneys ask them to call cat Ask if they’ve seen sooty paw prints ?? If someone is away & you think your cat is in there ask neighbour they may have been left keys Builders too leave windows open then at night close them & cat could have slipped in He will be in Gardens probably so ask neighbours to leave his dry food & water out & to keep checking Have you posted on Nextdoor.com ? Look on there under found cats too Have posted on pawboost? Petsreunited? I’m praying now to St Francis you must pray now hard even if you don’t believe just believe for now & pray as your power of prayer will be heard trust me have faith miracles happen Spray pee in garden over wall etc just pee in a jug then pour into a squirt top water bottle! When you find your cat &YOU WILL Please think of getting a tracker !! It takes all the stress & anxiety away!! Cats who are trapped without water for more than two days their internal organs start shutting down So finding a trapped cat is vital!! My cats have WEENECT 2 trackers that have an awesome telephone function !! I can call the tracker via it’s app & the cat can hear the caller and vice Versa!! So whoever is around your cat can literally talk to you via the tracker! My cat was staying out for long periods in the summer & I rang his tracker & a neighbour responded saying he was sleeping on their roof terrace everyday!! I used the calling mode to train him to come home when he heard my voice & rattled treat tin! You can use the super live mode to track the cat in real time as well Please message me if you need any help regarding trackers Weenect is lightest available on the market It cost £50 plus £7 a month It honestly is money well spent https://www.weenect.com/en/ I also use collars from here (they embroider name & number into collar so no need for tags) the collars are breakaway clasp so totally safe https://www.custompetcollars.co.uk/collections/cat-collars

MISSING CAT cat. /.,STUDY from Missing Animal Response Network - A study of 1200 missing cats that were lost and then found. • The majority of cats 75% were found within 500 metres (1/3 of a mile) of their home (or escape point). Indoor only cats were closest to home often up to 10 houses distance. • The majority (83%) were found outside in a GARDEN near to home (or to their escape point) under shrubs or decking. • The majority of cats that were found, were found within 8 weeks. Half of those found was within 7 days. • Some bolder cats work their way home when their adrenaline has subsided (sometimes after a few days). Many cats will stay in hiding for very many days – often 10-12 days. They need our help to be reunited especially if they have bolted beyond their personal territory; they will be disorientated and unable to find their way back. THINGS YOU SHOULD DO: FIRST: SEARCH STRAIGHT AWAY and REGULARLY: Immediately search the local area. Call from your garden day and night. Walk the length of your road STOPPING and WAITING. Frightened cats take a while to respond. Start at the end of your road and WALK TOWARDS your house as you call so you don’t tempt your cat to travel further away from its home. Do the same on parallel roads as many times as possible every day. Don’t give up as the majority of found cats are found within 2 months with 50% in the first 7 days. Call in your normal voice so your cat is reassured that it is safe. They will pick up on the slightest anxiety as cats are hugely sensitive. Unless your cat is very bold, he/she will not rush straight out of hiding on hearing you; many stay in hiding for up to 12 days. Stand still and call. Build your cat’s confidence by hearing your voice sounding relaxed, talking to switched off mobile as you walk towards home. NIGHT-TIME/EARLY HOURs when the WORLD IS ASLEEP, when it is QUIET is a very good time to call and search. SOUND TRAVELS MUCH LONGER DISTANCES at night and your cat is much more likely to hear you calling it. CATS FEEL SAFER IN THE DARK from predators and are more likely to leave their hiding place on being called. Call in your garden frequently overnight. If walking on the street near your home to call through to reach neighbour’s gardens; take someone with you to stay safe. Shaking a treat bag GENTLY is a signal to cats (if it’s something they have heard at home) and the sound will travel much further late at night. Search at dusk and dawn BE PATIENT; WAIT; REPEAT: Hiding away and not responding has nothing to do with whether your cat loves you, whether it recognises your voice – it has everything to do with the fact that a frightened cat will hide in silence! It is following its instinct and is in survival mode. Even if you are nearby the cat won’t just come out. Search hiding places. SECOND: PUBLICISE: LEAFLET EVERY HOUSE. LEAFLETS are very successful and have resulted in reuniting quite a few cats. Leaflet both sides of your road and parallel streets. Include a clear full photograph of your cat and your mobile number. Ask them to search in their gardens, sheds and under decking. Leaflets through doors really RAISES THE PROFILE of your lost cat in a large number of people’s minds. It reaches so many people – literally many hundreds. A good leaflet expressing how much the cat is missed and loved also touches the heart of many people who will then make the effort to go and search. Be sure to watch Sonya Fitzpatrick on YouTube How To Find Your Lost Cat. She tells you a special trick that really does work. Plan a route and direction towards where you need your cat to follow you BACK, not away, this is very important xx

I know you’ve probably done a lot of this advice in past but do it alll AGAIN! your cat needs scent to find his way home so all the help you can give is needed as his markings that he previously left are weaker now Spray your own pee in garden over wall etc just pee in a jug then pour into a squirt top water bottle! Borrowed these tips from somebody on a pets missing site especially to be able to share (maybe some you have not tried yet) so trust you find them useful ... I really hope you find your precious kitty very soon x x Missing cat tips Firstly, check your own home, garden, and the immediate vicinity THOROUGHLY. Cats seldom stray far, but some of them have a positive genius for getting shut in sheds, garages, cars, greenhouses. Check also any standing water-butts, ponds or similar. Check under all bushes, decking and in gardens, using a long stick and a torch if necessary. Knock on neighbours doors and ask them to check sheds/garages/outhouses WHILE YOU WAIT in case your cat has got shut in (cats are incredibly inquisitive!). Ask neighbours to prop open doors so if your cat is scared and hiding s/he doesn't miss the opportunity to get out if the door is only opened briefly. Your cat recognises the smell of home. Spread hoover contents around the outside of your house. Put your cat’s dirty litter try outside too. Hang dirty washing on your line, put smelly trainers in your garden with any cat bedding. Anything that smells familiar will help guide your cat home if s/he has lost their scent. Go out looking at night to check, when it is quiet and there is less traffic. Work your way back towards home as you call them, so not to inadvertently lead them further away from home. Take a powerful torch. Scatter used cat litter outside and leave out food. If possible, make sure there is a way for your cat to get back in the house even if you are asleep (e.g., wedge open the cat flap). Next check all the surrounding streets, again checking under bushes and in undergrowth. If there are fields/woods nearby, thoroughly search these too. Check any empty houses as cats can get through the smallest of spaces. KEEP doing all these things as when scared cats go into survival mode and may not even respond to their owner at first. Make posters/fliers and put them up anywhere and everywhere (e.g. stuck to telegraph poles and similar). Stick one in the back window of your car. Local shops, post office, pub, local primary schools (small children are incredibly observant) anywhere really. Ask local vets to display a copy. Speak to local postman and dog walkers to ask them to TELL you if they see your cat. Consider printing off enough fliers to put them through people’s letterboxes down your street and in the area. Not everybody is on social media. If there are any distinctive physical conditions or characteristics about your cat, make sure you feature them prominently in any fliers, online appeals, etc. Alert all vets in the area and give them a description of your cat. Ask local vets to display a poster of your missing cat. Even if your cat is chipped, not all vets routine scan for a chip!!! Chips can also fail or migrate to anywhere in your cat. Ring the RSPCA/cats protection and any rescues in the area as any of these places may end up with him so best to give them a description too. Again, not all rescue centres routinely scan a cat for a chip See if the local paper runs free lost and found pets ads. Check the found and make sure your pet is listed as lost. Again, not everybody is on Facebook. Use Facebook (set to public and tag yourself in your kitty’s photo so you can follow up any leads from subsequent shares) to share your missing cat. It is ESSENTIAL to include a clear photo, colour/breed/distinguishing features, where s/he has gone missing from (district, town and county) and when your cat was last seen. Say if your cat is chipped and neutered or not. Ask people to share/retweet. Share your cat to any local lost and found pets pages, on national lost cat pages, on the Facebook pages of any local cat rescue groups, on local vets and larger community groups. The bigger the audience of the groups you share to the better. Always include your post code and a mobile contact number. Ask everyone to share. If you are not on social media, ask a family member or friendly neighbour to do this for you. Follow up any and every lead you get until you have absolutely discounted 100% that this is your cat. Remember that most people are spectacularly unobservant and quite capable of identifying a tom as a queen and vice versa. Contact all the local vets by phone to see if your cat has been brought in injured. KEEP DOING THIS at weekly intervals, as you may not speak to the same person every time, plus your cat may have been brought in the day after you phoned the last time. Contact all the local cat rescues by phone to see if your cat has been brought in injured. KEEP DOING THIS at weekly intervals, as you may not speak to the same person every time, plus your cat may have been brought in the day after you phoned the last time. If your cat is chipped, contact the chip company to ensure they have your correct and up to date contact details, especially your telephone numbers. Don’t wait for them to come to you. Alert the chip company that he's missing, put him on animal search and missing pet register as both are free After a few days, contact the cleansing department of your local council. They often record when the street cleaning services picked up deceased animals in the road. While this may not give you the answer that you want, if they have no record, that is hopeful, and if the worst comes to the worst, at least you will finally know what happened. Keep checking, keep looking, check and re-check, and keep contacting the vets and the shelters. If you make yourself enough of a pain in the arse, they’ll remember you. Also check local re-homing and rescue sites in case your cat has been found and is now being offered for re-homing. If your cat is pedigree (or looks like one!!), check Gumtree and other ‘free’ selling sites just in case your cat has been stolen. Consider offering a reward, as a last resort, but make sure if you do that you set out the conditions under which it will be paid very clearly. The last thing you need is to get into some sort of Mexican standoff with some meathead who has found your cat and thinks he can screw an extra £100 out of you over and above what you have offered before he even tells you if it’s alive or dead... Finally, keep a record of everywhere you have advertised your cat so that you can take down posters and update all social media posts with the good news. If your cat wasn’t chipped and neutered, please do both when they return home.
