LOST
Artie
Name: Artie
Breed & Species: Green-cheeked Conure parrot
Colour: Turquoise
SimpleColour:
Went missing: 4 years ago
(16 April 2020 at around 19:00hrs)
Location: Ronald Street, Old Swan, Liverpool L13 2AA, UK
Health: Healthy
Age: 6 years old (approx)
Sex: Male
Collar: No
Microchipped: No
Markings: Red leg band, dark green wings, long pointed tail
Circumstances: He flew directly out of the door whilst chirping (I thought I'd locked the cage and obviously hadn't during a stressful day). Artie immediately flew over the top of the opposing row of terraced houses, and we tried to follow him for a couple of hours before it got too dark out to see him. We live near a cluster of tree lined areas, so have checked all of those, following him as far as St Mary's Church locally before losing track of him. There are local parks so hopefully Artie hasn't gone too far.
Other info: He has a lighter coloured belly also

Artie was originally visiting neighbouring gardens about a road away in a residential area with plenty of trees, bird feeders, birdhouses and flowers to attract him. He then was caught by someone that initially sold him on to a family across the street. From here he was well looked after and luckily wasn't far to get to as the family were aware of me asking around the locals about Artie, to which they got in touch. I confirmed it was him definitely, and reimbursed the £40 spent for him before thanking them and returning Artie home on foot in a carry cage. Upon full health check, nothing seemed atypical aside from the dirt on his feet, (but with no abrasions to risk bumblefoot, so only needed a wash), and the cut just above his beak where apparently a cat had attempted to attack him. There is a slight patch of feather loss and a tiny cut, the blood loss is not substantial as Artie isn't lethargic, and I have applied antiseptic gel to the area after cleaning with sterile water and a cotton swab. The greatest success was the networking and getting the word out. The reason we were able to track him by any means and get him home, is down to social media, word of mouth and generally not stopping (i.e. When I sat down at home, I was planning to make fruit skewers for outside/putting his cage outside/making posters etc). We knew he wouldn't travel far from home in the first few days, so we just kept canvassing the area around quieter times when they're more vocal.
