Hello Saveloy, I've just been alerted to this. Thanks for helping the hamster, sadly hamsters don't really have microchips. Do you have a suitable hamster house? Any plans if owner not found?

Hey Rusty! Thanks for your comments! I’ve put flyers up locally and in my neighbours’ letter boxes hoping the owner will see them, but for the hamster’s comfort while he’s with me I’ve found someone giving away all their hamster equipment on gumtree so I’ll go pick that up this afternoon. Thank you!

Oh that's fantastic Saveloy! Well done. Please be sure to ask for proof of ownership as sadly there are often horror stories out there, so please be careful. I doubt a hammy is chipped but I'm happy to scan when I'm next in the area on the Friday after Xmas. Though a vet will also do this for free, and can tell you if male/female. Please don't hesitate to get in touch if you need any more help. I'm seen as Rusty Pointer in Facebook. Good luck!

Hi, I've just seen the flyer in the Co-op & it occurs to me, given the date you found it, it may have been bought as a gift (cringe!) & managed to escape one of those little card boxes shops use? In which case I doubt it'll get claimed - just a thought! Well done for rescuing anyway, I'm amazed such a little creature survived, but that's why I suspect he may have escaped from a shopper! Good luck :)
