Hi Shazbagz, I came across this by fluke googling for info on another stray cat, not sure how this works and whether you receive this message direct.

(Hit return and it submitted the message!) I believe that this cat is one that I have fed regularly over the years, he has been around since at least 2010. At that time I took him to the vets and contacted Cats Protection who had me put a paper collar on him and someone contacted them to say that he was owned. As you say, he was not in the best condition, but he had lost a lot of weight since the better weather and he had been off roaming for females! The fur loss was where I had been grooming him to remove the mats from his coat. I had a note on my calendar to say that I hadn't seen him in over a month, I called him Syls, because he looks a bit like Sylvester the cat, he was a lovely natured boy, even un-nuetered, I have missed him. I have just found him on Tatty Cats Facebook page, so I will enquire after him there.
