Amandabaker any news yet? Have you checked Chisenhale Studio? There was a cat missing in the area few months back, Chisenhale took it in for one week without doing anything, they didnt feed the cat, and eventually saw the missing cat poster, contacted the owner who came to collect their cat, by which time he was skinny & starved - please check in all thestudios alon there as they dont seem to understand what SHOULD be done when they find a cat. Be sure to put posters up along there. Please update here and also contact me in facebook 'Rusty Pointer' for some more advice. Thank you

Rusty

Yes, leaving food and water out. I’ll leave her little bed out there too. Good idea.

Hi Rusty. We heard some very difficult news yesterday. Was going to contact you this morning. Somebody called me who lives in some flats a little further along the canal. Our house , that we very recently moved into also backs onto the canal ( but we fenced it off because of pets). Anyway he saw a cat in the canal the day after she went missing but didn’t know about the posters until a friend showed him them. The cat matched Mollys description so he contacted me. He seemed a really nice genuine person. My husband has contacted canal authority and is awaiting a reply from them. The gardener was there the day she went missing and was clearing something at the back so I think must have left the gate open while collecting his tools so it’s more probable she didn’t go out the front and get lost as I previously thought. It’s been very sad news but because I didn’t see her myself I’m still holding out a tiny bit of hope that it wasn’t her so am not going to close this down for a few weeks. I’m away next week in Africa until the 4 th but should still be able to pick up messages from time to time and my husband will still be in Uk. Sorry to have to tell you such sad news and thank you for caring and helping out.

OMG im ever so sorry. I usually get called out to deceased animals, especially in the canal, but not everyone knows where to report them. Did the man say what happened to the cat he saw? Did anyone retrieve from the canal? I guess even if they did notjing they coild have done as they would have had no result when scanning as she wasnt microchipped. I will post out to some boaters groups see if I can find any info. What would have been the exact date the man saw the deceased animal do you know? Im ever so sorry to read this, so sorry tgat you ate going through this

He saw it on the 12 th . The day after she went missing. He saw her from his flat that overlooks the canal , a little further on from us ( it’s the way the slight current goes). No didn’t retrieve. Iyes, I’ve been very sad. My one solace is that she isn’t trapped in s she’d. Starving , dehydrating to death. That was my worst fear . If it was her. Will let you know when we hear back from canal authority. It as you say , without chip or body I can’t know absolutely 100%. My dog is chipped but Molly came to us in an unusual way, mid life. Her collar with name tag had recently just come undone which hasn’t helped.

First reports of drowned cat seen in canal matching Molly’s description, later corroborated by the hard work of Rusty who received similar news from house boat owners. Found chip that previous owner had installed.
