Circumstances:	He was a rescue cat I took receipt of on Sunday 22nd at 7.00 pm. He shot upstairs and hid under a bed for 27 hours, emerging around 10.30 pm last night 23rd. After trying to settle him down but being unable after he had slept so long, and he would not stop miaowing, I took his food, water and litter tray down to the kitchen, and shut the kitchen door so that I could sleep. But when I woke, there was no sign of him. The window above the sink had been very slightly open, and he must have jumped on to the draining board and escaped via that window.
Other info:	The previous owner from St Leonards asked us to take Smoky on Sunday, as he was being attacked by foxes and was having to live in a shed, as the owner already had 3 cats indoors until Smoky had turned up 14 weeks ago. He arrived at 7.00 pm Sunday, highly stressed, and spent from then until around 10.30 pm yesterday under a bed. He finally emerged and we had 4 hours or so of getting to know each other. He was very affectionate once calm, and ate and drank a little, and used the litter tray. But having slept most of the previous 27 hours, he was not remotely sleepy. He came on my bed and I kept trying to settle him down, but he kept miaowing. Eventually at around 3.00 am, having had no sleep, I brought his food, drink and litter tray downstairs, and shut him in the kitchen. But this morning he wasn't there. A window had been very slightly open by the sink, and he must have leaped up over the sink and pushed the window open. We have walked around the locality looking for him, but no joy. He is such a lovely cat, very affectionate and loving, and I so need to know he is safe and that he will be found. He is grey and white and I believe the original owner had microchipped him.
