A passerby saw our Pets Reunited poster and called to say she thinks a cat may have been hit by a car on the road behind our house several weeks ago. She didn't actually witness the accident but noticed a driver reverse and get out of the car to look into the front garden of a house. She told me which house and I went to speak to the owners. Owners just bought the house and don't live there full time but they were in the house the week that Ollie went missing. The homeowner confirmed that a black cat was hit by a car and came into their garden to die. They didn't report it to the council or anywhere else useful. Instead, they paid a company to come and dispose of the body. The homeowner didn't know the exact date of the incident but remembers that it was very hot weather and they left London on 11 August, just 5 days after Ollie disappeared. It is therefore almost beyond doubt that the cat they found dead in their garden must have been him.
