Has this cat's home been found?

Hi Claret, no, but, according to Sarian’s posts, she seems to have lost her previous home for some reason (perhaps an elderly owner who passed away or she was taken away for some reason). I am looking after her but will need to find her a loving, stable home. I would love to keep her but don’t think I can.

This looks very like a cat who suddenly appeared, quite distressed, in Waterloo Drive (Grimsbury) a few months ago and was living around the car park near the entrance. If so, she is a lovely friendly, quite vocal cat who doesn't go far. We don't know anything about her history except that she disappeared around the end of Easter Sunday and hasn't been seen since. She has been very popular with passersby and was being fed by someone local as a stray cat. Someone must have dumped her in Waterloo Drive originally and now dumped her in Canal St. She would make a lovely pet for someone if they could give her a decent home.

We think she was either stolen or maybe she had an elderly owner who died and she was turned loose. She is very used to humans.

Sarian, Thank you so much for your response and information; I am sure this is the same cat you have described. I thought she may have had an elderly owner. She is very friendly and gentle. Quite vocal as you say, espexia

Thank you very much for this! As soon as I saw your first post I went round to see if she was still there but I guess you’d picked her up by then.

I used to sit and chat with her, and we’d become friends, though it was a neighbour who fed her and made a little cat house available outside. She was sometimes lunged at by dogs on leads but didn’t bolt off or fight which suggests a degree of confidence with other animals. We’d just got to the stage where she felt relaxed enough with me to become lighthearted and playful when she vanished. I’ve met many cats over the years but none of them have been as much of a friend in so short a space of time – I had considered taking her in but reluctantly decided it wouldn’t be practical, and I’m not sure it would be in her best interests to return to the area she was snatched from.

Thank you so much for rescuing my cat friend, and giving her some much-needed stability, safety and care. She is lovely, and will be a good friend to you too if you can keep her.

That was so kind of you to go check on her and to have spent time with her. We have definitely bonded and I would love to keep her but I just can’t. I will keep her until I find a good home for her. I am surprised she didn’t run off when lunged at by a dog; in fact, I am a bit concerned that she doesn’t seem keen or able to run, climb or jump. The vet said she is ok but she doesn’t move around much, although she walks ok. I think she must have been an indoor cat living somewhere where she didn’t have much opportunity to roam or climb.

Hey, Sarian, are you sure you don't want to adopt her?! Sounds like you would be the perfect owner for her. I think she would be happy as a house cat, so it shouldn’t matter if it’s the same area she was taken from (if she was). I know you said it wouldn’t be practical and I understand because I’m in the same boat but I would help you all I could with cost, time and love for her! If you want to discuss or to visit her, text or call me on 07896 204553. If def not possible, I will keep her until I find a suitable home.

Thank you so much for this lovely generous offer! I think I do have to say no, though – it just wouldn’t be practical, or fair to the cat for me to take her in, which is why I hadn’t already done so. But I really appreciate your kind offer and I’m sure you’ll find her a good home in due course.

Thanks also for asking if I’d like to visit! Depending on how this week goes it would be nice to see her once more, so if I can I’ll text during the week and maybe we can fix something up.

PS I think she is part tortoiseshell, by the look of her. It would explain the vocals.

Hi Sarian, thanks for replying; I thought that’s what you’d say but I had to ask! Tbh, it will be very hard to let her go. Yes, she is mostly tortoiseshell, now I know what that is. I didn’t know they were known for being vocal, that’s interesting. PS You are welcome to visit,; I have to work tie-thur but am home all day fri, sat and sun. I have a cat-sitter coming in to check on bella Bella and my own cats when I’m out. She seems content and is eating and drinking well.

Ah sorry, didn’t meant that to send. ... vocal especially when she is hungry (which is frequently!) I was surprised that her owners hadn’t seen my posts as I have posted on a number of websites and put posters up; but, from your reply, I agree that something has happened to sadly change her precious situation. Anyway, she is safe with me for the time being until I decide what to do.

I dearly wish I could but I can’t. I will look after her until I can find her a good home.

Update from Bella's 'finder'from last Easter- I never did find Bella's owner so I decided to keep her- she is so adorable I had no choice, really! Sadly, she has recently lost weight and been diagnosed with a growth in her liver (apparently non-operable) but she is happy and enjoying life for now. I will be heartbroken when the sad time comes to say goodbye but am so glad that I've had the privilege of looking after her and loving her. Thanks to all here for their help and support.
